"One cuts open the bodies of water animal–each time in the same way– to find out why they died; one writes about how the world is tied together, linked like history and future, made from the same materials; I am also a mother, and go to faraway places and make pictures with my body in ways like and unlike being a mother. I watch other women using their mother bodies, and I film it"
–Patty Chang
