Catalina Ouyang is an artist whose practice spans sculpture, writing, and interdisciplinary media. Their work investigates themes of desire, subjugation, race, gender, and resistance. Ouyang acts through search, be it mythological, oral, or through literature. They are consistently disrupting the ‘normativity’ of hetero-patriarchal desire and identification. Ouyang's pieces are both organic and synthetic, using media that often relate directly to the body, from carved wood, to concrete, to bacteria and yeast.
